Scope of Practice:
We care for patients with disorders of the gastrointestinal tract that require surgery.  These disorders can be grouped as “upper gastrointestinal tract” and “lower gastrointestinal tract”.  The lower gastrointestinal tract makes the field of colorectal surgery which includes benign and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum and anus.   Among disorders of the upper gastrointestinal tract we treat patients with benign and malignant diseases of the stomach, small intestine and gallbladder.

  • Minimal access surgery (laparoscopic)
  • Restorative procotocolectomy (ileal pouch anal anastomosis)
  • Anal phincter preservation surgery for rectal cancer
  • Proctectomy, coloanal anastomosis, colonic "J" pouch
  • Transanal excision of polyps and cancers
  • Anal sphincteroplasty for anal sphincter disruption
  • Endorectal advancement flaps for rectal fistulas
  • Sclerotherapy /rubber band ligation of hemorrhoids
